In episode 20 of “Diary of CHRO,” João Ricardo interviews Kati Ciocan, a Senior HRBP with 10 years of experience in tech/SaaS environments.
Before becoming an HR, she worked as a Software Quality Assurance Tester at Nokia in Finland.
For eight years, she helped shape a culture of recognition, growth, and inclusion at Instapage, a company offering scalable solutions for personalized landing pages. She has also guided teams through challenging times, like five layoffs and the transition from Instapage to AirSlate, which acquired the former.

In this video, she discusses the psychological impacts of mergers and layoffs, outlines best practices for leaders managing layoffs, and highlights the role of HR in fostering trust and empathy through organizational change.
She offers some advice to leaders navigating organizational transitions: “I think the most important thing is, be human first and be there, be present, you know, check in regularly, listen more than you talk, and accept that emotions are real and complex. And I think consistency is the key. People need to know that you’re there. And even if you don’t have any answer, just say, ‘Hey, we’re still working out on this,’ or ‘We’re still working on this. We’re going to give you an answer shortly.’”
