We absolutely love the few brave souls who decide to have some fun with their out-of-office (OOO) messages. Last summer, we rounded up the best ones that landed in our inboxes. Now, we’re back with a festive edition.
Some of these Christmas OOO messages actually hit our inboxes this year; others were inspired by what we found online.
Enjoy — and have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
5. Making everyone jealous with a tan in January
Hi there,
Thanks for your message! I’m currently out of the office, off to enjoy some sunshine and switch off over the holiday period. I’ll be back (hopefully slightly tanned and fully recharged!) on January 2nd.
Wishing you a wonderful holiday season and a great start to 2026!
Warm regards,
Warm regards,
4. Too busy with my activities
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and I’m busy engaging in the following activities:
- Eating 😋
- Making swaggy snowmen 😎☃️
- Last-minute Xmas shopping 🛍️
- Navigating questions from relatives about why I’m still single 🙄
- Watching “Home Alone,” “Die Hard” (all of them), “It’s a Wonderful Life,” and “Barbie in the Nutcracker” 🎬
- Eating some more 😋😋
Therefore, I won’t be able to reply until January 6. Merry Christmas! 🎅

3. The cook
I’m out of the office and will reply to emails next year. In the meantime, take care of yourself, and maybe try my favorite gingerbread men recipe — you won’t regret it. Merry Xmas! 🎄
2. Burnt out
All I want for Christmas is a break, so I’m OOO.
1. The great Christmas debate
I’m currently OOO and will be back on January 6. I won’t be responding until then. But since you’re already here, I’d appreciate your help in settling a debate among my colleagues and me: What is the best Christmas song? You have 3 options to choose from:
Option 1: “Last Christmas” — Wham! (great taste, congrats!)
Option 2: “All I Want For Christmas Is You” — Mariah Carey (seriously, isn’t this too basic in 2025?)
Option 3: “Merry Christmas, Please Don’t Call” — Bleachers (oh, sorry to hear that; I hope your heart recovers in 2026 ❤️🩹)
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🍾🥂
